RhB Heidiland Electric Loco

Since 1993, the Rhätische Bahn has purchased nine modern high performance Ge 4/4 III locomotives to pull heavy passenger and freight trains on its Alpine routes. The first of its type, the No. 641 "Maienfeld," also was the first RhB loco to wear advertising on its sides. Shortly after its introduction, 641 was repainted to promote the railway´s spectacular "Heidiland-Bernina-Express. You can´t miss the big Swiss flag and Edelweiss flower on this LGB model. However, the model has more features you might not notice, like motorized pantographs that automatically raise and lower according to the direction of travel. You´ll also find automatic red/white directional lights, lighted instrument panels and electronic voltage stabilization.
