The Rio Grande did more than carry passengers to mining towns. It also was the primary means of transporting fresh meat, dairy and produce items from farms along the line to far away markets. Colorful “Grande Gold” refrigerator cars like this one served the railroad for decades. Use it in a long freight train or coupled just behind the locomotive and tender on a passenger train.
