New York Streetcar, Sound

This model of a New York Third Avenue Railway System streetcar has all the technical finesse of the New Orleans streetcar (LGB 20380). Plus it offers the real sounds of a prototypical streetcar, including motor sounds, two bell sounds and background noises. There is also a conductor announcement, making this model even more authentic.

The Prototype
Millions of people have ridden these all-steel, Perley Thomas streetcars for decades. Until the 1960s, they formed the backbone of public transit in many American towns and cities. Today, a few of these oldtimers run as tourist attractions, while other cities have imported similar cars from Australia or built replicas to revive popular streetcar lines.
