The meter-gauge Brohltalbahn still hauls revenue freight on its line from Brohl on the Rhine River to Engeln in the Eifel Mountains. Railfans know the railway for its “Vulkan-Express” (Volcano Express). The trip past long-dormant volcanoes, which can be seen along the line, has become a tourist attraction.
