BN Center Flow Hopper

The “Center Flow” design was a result of considerable research by ACF Industries during the late 1950s and early 1960s into ways to make a hopper that was “self-cleaning,” with no corners for material to become stuck. Quick to load and unload, its strong and lightweight design allows larger payloads. Center flow hoppers were a common sight on the Burlington Northern, and they still are on BN’s successor, the BNSF. This edition of this popular model wears car number 455621and features opening roof hatches and lower doors.
