Porter Steam Loco

The American locomotive manufacturer H. K. Porter specialized in small steam locomotives. The LGB model is a detailed replica of a typical four-wheel Porter steam locomotive, ready for hard work on your LGB layout: Couple it to a string of disconnect log trucks on an American logging line, to field railway cars on a Philippine sugar tramway, to ore cars or hoppers for use in a mine, a quarry or on the construction site of the Panama Canal. Or pull a string of open passenger cars to model a railway in Zanzibar, a tropical island off the African coast.

The Prototype
The American locomotive works of H. K. Porter exported small locomotives to many countries. Porter locomotives ran on the sugar tramways of Hawaii and the Philippines, as well as on American logging railroads. They were used in mines in Arizona and Mexico and during the construction of the Panama canal. You could even find them in passenger service on Zanzibar, a tropical island off the African coast.
