DB Diesel Loco, V52 901

The V52s were among the most famous narrow gauge locomotives of the Deutsche Bundesbahn. They hauled passenger and freight trains on the meter gauge line between Mosbach and Mudau in southwest Germany. This powerful model features two motors. Three lanterns illuminate in the direction of travel. The cab also features lighting, an engineer figure and a detailed interior. There is a power control switch to park the loco. The prototypical livery is taken from the 1960's.

The Prototype
To replace aging steam locomotives on their narrow gauge branch lines, the German Railways (DB) purchased five modern diesel-hydraulic locomotives. Two 270 horsepower diesel engines are mounted under the long front hood, while the short hood conceals the air compressor, air reservoir and fuel tanks. The prototype of the model worked for many years on the meter-gauge line between Mosbach and Mudau in southwestern Germany, until this line was abandoned.
