D&RGW™ Drover’s Caboose

This updated version of this popular LGB model is based on a real car that ran on the Pagosa Springs branch of the Denver & Rio Grande Western. During the Depression, it was necessary to combine passenger accommodations, less-than-carload freight and the functions of a caboose in one car. The few passengers who would put up with all of this – riding at the end of a jerky freight train that stopped at every siding – were mostly cattle herders, hence the nickname “Drover’s Caboose.” Metal wheels with ball bearings and integrated power pick-ups.
Union Pacific trademarks are used under license.
