Field Railroad Set





LGB fans have discovered that it’s easy, fun and economical to model a field railway. So start building your own “feldbahn” with this extensive LGB set. It includes a tough, little diesel loco along with two dump cars, two cane cars and two drum cars.


The Prototype
Light-duty, narrow-gauge railways transport goods in factories, mines, quarries, as well as on farms and construction sites around the world. These “field” railroads rapidly gained world-wide popularity after 1880, whether to haul agricultural products on the large estates of the Baltic island of Rügen, sugar cane on plantations in the U. S. or slate in British quarries.In recent decades, motorized trucks have made inroads, but a few light railroads continue to operate. For example, the construction of the Channel tunnel between Britain and France employed modern light railroads. Mining operations use small locomotives. And finally, you can enjoy light railroads in numerous museums and parks.
