C&S Caboose, 1009

The narrow-gauge Colorado and Southern Railroad enjoys a following far out of proportion to its tiny size, even decades after it went out of business. One reason is the railroad’s fleet of charming "bobber" cabooses, which could be found on trains serving towns with magical names like Silver Plume, Idaho Springs and Leadville. The real “1009” caboose was found serving as a storage shed in Buena Vista, Colorado and was lovingly restored by members of the Colorado Narrow Gauge Museum in Golden, where it found a new home. This LGB model of Number 1009 is as loaded with details as the original is loaded with history.
